ZERO Environmental Impact Fish Farming

THE GREEN LIGHT

A Collection of Green Tips, Facts and Knowledge

A Drifting Fish Farm

Kampachi Farms, a mariculture company in Hawaii is devising a way to meet our insatiable desire for sushi with a farming method that has ZERO impact on the environment.  By filling 100-ft copper-alloy mesh cages with fingerings and letting the cages drift, tracked by GPS in deep waters to harvest thousands of tons of sustainable sashmi-grade kampachi.  In 2011 this concept was tested off Hawaii, after six months the company yielded 10,000 pounds of kampachi safely and naturally.
